Since she was a little girl in her native Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, Marina Darowish has been captivated by the beauty and art of Middle
Eastern belly dance. Her interest grew with the support of her Lebanese grandmother,
Marina Darowish. Her formal training is in belly dancing with Arabic folklore
dance and gypsy dance. She continues her studies with some of the leading instructors
in Sao Paolo, Brazil and subsequently in Los Angeles.
In 1999, Marina Darowish moved to California. She continued to improve her dance
and technique by taking classes and workshops with master teachers as Marta
Schill and Juliete Raber.
In February 2001 Marina Darowish. won "The Peoples Choice Award"
at the Belly Dance Universe Competition in Long Beach, California. In 2002 at
the same competition she won "The Peoples Choice Award" for
the second year in a row and also 1st Rrunner Up.
Now through the grace and fluidity of motion Marina Darowish has become one with the rhythm of the music, enjoying sharing her enthusiasm with her audiences. Marina Darowish has mastered the art of her specialty Turkish dance, Arabic cabaret, sword dancing, floor work dance, saidi, and khaleegy.
Marina Darowish. performs weekly at restaurants and celebrations parties. She
also teaches belly dance classes at dance studios and privately. Marina Darowish
is also experienced in performing and teaching Brazilian dances such samba,
samba reggae, lambada, forro and frevo.
